Welcome
The Traditional park –
Chief Logan State Park
Chief Logan State Park, is in the heart of West Virginia's southern coalfields. Chief Logan State Park is four miles north of the town of Logan. The park and town share the name of the Chief of the Cayuga Tribe (also known as the Mingo tribe).
This 4,000-acre park is one of the most visited in the state park system. The park features a 25-site campground, outdoor amphitheater, and wildlife center. The recreation enthusiast can enjoy miles of hiking trails, a swimming pool with water slide, tennis, and miniature golf. Picnic shelters and playgrounds are found throughout the park.
If you stop to visit friends or family in the Logan area and they’re not home? Drive to ‘the park’, because they are probably there. This state park is a traditional park in every sense – picnicking, hiking, biking, fishing, camping and fun.
Access route to Chief Logan State Park is from U.S. 119 at Old Logan Road.
The New Neighbor –
Chief Logan Lodge, Hotel & Conference Center
Known to area residents as ‘the conference center’ this complex opened fully in 2006 as a full-service hotel, restaurant AND conference center. Although a road does not connect to the traditional state park, this facility shares the name and is part of the state park system. Located over the mountain from Chief Logan State Park, this hotel-complex is easily accessible from U.S. 119 at mile marker 30.5 – between Chapmanville and Logan, WV. It is a welcome retreat for visitors, business travelers, and perhaps to family and friends coming home to West Virginia for a visit.
Christmas in Both Parks
Enjoy beautiful light displays as you drive throughout the Chief Logan State Park from November 29 – January 1, 2009. All displays light up at dark and stay lit until 10 p.m. Admission is free; donations are accepted.
Enjoy a wonderful meal at Chief Logan Lodge restaurant or a relaxing overnight stay at Chief Logan Lodge. The lodge is aglow in holiday decoration and lighting and a welcoming fire in the lobby makes the winter season brighter.
